Open auditions slated

BSA also has announced auditions for two 2013 stage shows.

Auditions for "A Steady Rain" by Keith Huff are set for 7 p.m. Monday and Tuesday in the lobby of the theater.

A drama featuring a cast of two, "A Steady Rain" is filled with storytelling and biting repartee, exploring the complexities of a lifelong bond tainted by domestic affairs, violence and the rough streets of Chicago.

A 2009 Broadway production starred Daniel Craig and Hugh Jackman.

The play alternates between two monologues and present-moment dialogue scenes. It contains mature subject matter and explicit language.

Auditions are for men ages 18 and older and is to consist of readings from the script.

Production dates are Jan. 11, 12, 18 and 19.

Auditions for Neil Simon's comedy, "The Odd Couple," are slated for 7 p.m. Dec. 17 and 18 in the Hirt Theatre.

Felix Ungar, a neurotic, neat-freak newswriter, is thrown out by his wife and moves in with his friend, Oscar Madison, a slovenly divorced sportswriter. Their personalities and living habits inevitably clash.

In addition to Oscar and Felix, the cast includes poker buddies Murray, Speed, Vinnie and Roy. Two women are needed for the roles of Ceily and Gwendolyn, British sisters who are upstairs neighbors.

Be prepared to read from the script.

Production dates for "The Odd Couple" are Feb. 22 and 23 and March 1 and 2.
