Terra State Community College and the Terra Choral Society are to present the ninth
annual Holiday Choral Festival, "Spirit of the Season," Saturday in Port Clinton and Sunday in Clyde.
The vocal ensembles of Terra State, along with the State of the Art, Terra Men's Chorus and special guest performers and narrators are to contribute to the 2012 holiday festival.
The Terra Choral Society is shown in this promotional image supplied by the college.
New this year are the Terra Children's Choir and the NORFA/Terra Community Flute Choir. A special guest performer is gospel and contemporary keyboardist Justin Burel, an alumnus of the Terra music program. He is to accompany the choirs for part of the program.
Audience members can experience a blend of holiday music, from the most time-honored classics of Handel's "Messiah" and Christmas carols to the sounds of jazz, rock and gospel music.
A special highlight is a tribute to the 100th birthday of Dr. Seuss with a musical medley from "The Grinch."
To honor America's veterans and servicemen and women, the concert is to feature a holiday tribute to the USO shows and America's World War II veterans.
The Terra Choral Society began the holiday festival tradition in 2003. Since then, the festival has grown along with the Choral Society to incorporate various groups and guest performers. Comprised of more than 100 student and community singers across five counties in northwest Ohio, Choral Society membership ranges from high school students to adults.
Saturday's concert is at 7:30 p.m. in Port Clinton Performing Arts Center, 821 Jefferson St., Port Clinton. The second performance is at 4 p.m. Sunday in Clyde High School Auditorium, 1015 Race St., Clyde.
Tickets are $10. Call (419) 559-2379 for more information or reservations.
