SYCAMORE - The village of Sycamore will issue $1.4 million in revenue bonds in a move to refinance a loan previously accepted from the USDA.
The loan helped to pay for the sewer collection system and treatment plant. Council passed the emergency measure at its Tuesday evening meeting. Council also authorized the mayor or council president to sign legal documents related to the project.
A cleaning position at the fire department has opened up, and applications may be picked up at the fire station or village hall. Fire Chief Bryan Clouse announced the current person will remain until the new hire.
As in previous years, the village is accepting donations of non-perishable food items for Christmas gift baskets. The baskets are to be distributed to those most in need in the village. Dec. 19 is the deadline for dropping off items at the utilities office downtown.
Mayor Matt Boucher talked about the "Mohawk Giving Tree" project, sponsored by Mohawk schools. The project allows children verified to be in need to receive gifts through donations.
