CAREY - The Carey school district soon will be under the watchful eye of a new video surveillance system to be installed in the elementary and high schools.
Carey board members approved the installation at the Monday evening meeting. The system includes 16 high resolution dome cameras and digital video recording systems. The system is to be installed by Boes Gosche Inc. of Carey for $16,201.
Superintendent Mark Vehre said public meetings to discuss the future of the school building were going well. Vehre said they were receiving positive feedback and would be gathering the information to determine the next step for the district.
The board also:
Approved 2 p.m. May 26, 2013, as the date for graduation.
Approved June 30-July 7, 2013, as an activity-free week for the district.
Accepted a $250 donation from the Recycle Committee from Continental Structural Plastics.
Accepted the resignation of Joe Turner, junior high wrestling coach.
The board continued with approving positions for the 2012-13 school year, including Tamara Crutcher, tutor; Chance Espenschied, student helper; Gloria Kessler, substitute cook; Ryan Puckett, substitute bus driver, custodian and athletic ticket taker; David Schlack, junior high wrestling coach; Doug Stombaugh, field house worker; Steve Yeater, substitute aide.
Approved joining the state purchasing cooperative, the Ohio Department of Administrative Services, for one year.
The board is to meet Dec. 10.
