FOSTORIA - Fostoria will be welcoming a new superintendent to the city schools.
Wednesday evening, Fostoria Board of Education members approved Andrew Sprang as the new superintendent of Fostoria City Schools, effective Jan. 1.His appointment follows a career in Fostoria as a teacher and principal. He said he wants to continue to make sure students receive quality education. He will be replacing Steven Pritts.
Sprang was not alone in the welcoming, as the board also approved Norman Elchert for school treasurer, taking over for interim treasurer Pamela Barber. Elchert is to take over duties starting in December.
School board members also approved advancing money from the General Fund to the Debt Service Fund in order to cover for a payment due Dec. 1.
In other matters, the board:
Approved the resignation of Carver Williams, head volleyball coach.
Approved the treasurer entering into a contract with Carrier Corp.
Approved the employment of two new personnel.
Approved the FJSHS student field trip to Gettysburg and Washington, D.C., in 2013.
Authorized the development of a fifth- and sixth-grade boys' and girls' basketball program.
