Wayne W. Cleveland, 85, of rural Clyde, died Sunday, Nov. 11, 2012, at his home.
He was born June 17, 1927, in Green Creek Township, to Wayne F. and Bernice (Eborg) Cleveland. He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II. He married Kathryn M. Thom June 29, 1960, and she preceded him in death in March 2003.
He is survived by seven children, Mark Cleveland of Clyde, Sarah (Robert) Preble of Columbus, Fred (Nancy) Cleveland of Republic, Cindy (Richard) Geis of Lexington, Ky., Stephen Cleveland and Michael Cleveland, both of Clyde. and Waynetta (Bill) Doyle of Springfield; former wife, Nancy Jean (Edwards) Cleveland of Lexington, Ky.; 11 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
He also was preceded in death by his parents and five siblings, Marian Myers, Marleen Gerber, Helen Potter, Henry Cleveland and Carl Cleveland.
Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 16, at Mitchell-Auxter Funeral Home, Clyde.
His funeral is 10 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home with the Rev. David Gowen officiating. Burial will follow at Green Springs Cemetery.
