NEW RIEGEL - New Riegel Superientdent Elaine Nye reported to school board members Monday evening about training she and Princiapl Dave Rombach participated in last week at North Central Ohio Educational Service Center on a new teacher evaluation system that became effective Sept. 24.
They are required to pass a test to receive credentials to conduct evaluations.
In the new system, teacher performance and student growth equally provide the final summative rating of accomplished, proficient, developing or ineffective at the end of the year. Rombach said four teachers are due for evaluation and will be the first to participate in the new evaluation process.
Rombach reported high school students donated more than $600 from a fundraiser to Give to Live, a local charity to assist with medical expenses of a female kidney patient.
Students are collecting coats, hats, gloves and mittens during November and December to help less fortunate neighbors. Items need not be new, but must be clean.
He also said teachers will receive applications this month to apply for grants to acquire iPads for classrooms.
Treasurer Jane Schalk announced state auditors are examining records from school years 2010-11 and 2011-12. She said revenue in the General Fund as of Oct. 31 is running slightly behind last year. Revenue now is $115,000, while it was $150,000 last year at this time.
Athletic Board of Control liaison Jenny Theis reported a second scoreboard has been added to the junior high gym and announced Mike Quinlan has been chosen Midland Athetic League goal coach of the year.

Approved Bee-Safe LLC to provide security at boys varsity basketball games at $21.50 per hour for the season.
Approved Herb Thibodeau as volunteer bowling coach.
Approved 18 board policies.
Accepted a donation of weight equipment from Linda Tiell in memory of Steve Tiell.
Approved the 2012-13 junior/senior prom for April 27 at Seneca Hills Golf Course.
Entered into an agreement for actuarial services regarding health-care costs with Findley Davies for $2,000.
Heard a new mower has arrived and a tractor should arrive this week.
Heard the administration has submitted a safety grant for a can crusher.
The board meets next at 7 p.m. Dec. 10.
