John J. Nye, 90, formally of Bettsville, went home to be with Our Lord and Savior, surrounded by his loving family, at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 6, 2012, at Birchaven Village, Findlay.
John was born June 1, 1922, in Risingsun, to John C. and Leafy (Meyers) Nye. He married Lucille (Cramer) June 8, 1942, and she preceded him in death.
John is survived by a son, John D. Nye of Bettsville; a daughter, Marcia Nye of Findlay; two grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
John also was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Tom Nye; a brother, Kenneth Nye; and two sisters, Viola Deere and Marguerite Good.
John worked in the dairy business most of his life. In the '60s he owned and operated his own fleet of dairy trucks and, after retirement in 1971, he worked for the Village of Bettsville and Gordon Lumber Company. John was a United States Marines veteran serving from 1944-1946.
A funeral for John will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012, at Birchaven Village, Findlay, with Chaplin Mike Thompson officiating. Burial will follow at Trinity Cemetery, Findlay.
Visitation for family and friends also will be Saturday, 9:30-10:30 a.m. at Birchaven Village.
Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory, Tiffin, is assisting the family with their arrangements.
