A driver and his passenger were taken to the hospital after a deer went through their windshield Thursday afternoon on West SR 18.

Trooper Phil Rickard of the State Highway Patrol said Melvin Aldrich, 61, of Fostoria had been driving his 2003 Chevrolet Silverado eastbound on West SR 18 near CR 48 when a westbound vehicle struck a deer and projected it into his windshield.

Aldrich and his passenger, Keenan Aldrich, 35, also of Fostoria, were transported by Bascom EMS to Mercy Tiffin Hospital with what appeared to be minor injuries, Rickard said.
