FREMONT - Hayes Presidential Center Head Librarian Becky Hill has been doing genealogical research for decades. She is considered one of the area's top experts on the subject. In order to keep tabs on the direct descendants of 19th U.S. President, Rutherford B. Hayes, Hill depends on a computer software program. She is to share her knowledge and expertise during a "Using RootsMagic" workshop set for 9:30-11:30 a.m. Saturday in the Hayes Museum.
Hill provides basics on how to use "RootsMagic," including how to get started, add sources, print reports, add photos
and share information. She uses "RootsMagic" to keep the Hayes family genealogy up to date.
She said she feels the program's ease of use and advanced features, such as incorporating photographs and options for sharing text and photos, make it a top choice for genealogists.
Although "Using RootsMagic" is geared toward people who already have purchased the software, it also is meant to be helpful to those interested in finding the best program to meet their needs.
Copies of "RootsMagic" software are
available for purchase in the Hayes Museum store.
Cost of the class is $10 for adults and $5 for students through high school. Registration is required by calling (419) 332-2081, ext. 231, or emailing bhill@bhayes.org.
The Rutherford B. Hayes Presidential Center is located at Hayes and Buckland avenues in Fremont. The facility is online at www.rbhayes.org.
