The community of Tiffin University came to together Thursday evening to celebrate the life of Andrea Glenn, a former TU student who was a victim of homicide over the summer.
Thursday was a beautiful 74 degree, sunny day. Glenn would have turned 21.
Jess Corns, one of Glenn's closest friends, helped organize the event.
"Andrea was a fun-loving person," Corns said.
"She was optimist and carefree," she said.
The Legacy Courtyard on Tiffin University's campus was filled with people who knew and loved Glenn.
A video made by her closest friends highlighted the fun and silly side of Glenn.
"Andrea was one of the most down-to-earth, real individuals," said Malcom Keith Jr., another close friend of Glenn.
"She was a blessing to have," he said.
Glenn's life was remembered with a candlelight vigil and a prayer.
Other members of the audience were asked to share stories and memories of Glenn.
"Andrea was a pure jewel to know and a good friend. I will miss her," Elisha Owens said.
People were asked to write personal messages on a balloon to be released.
"Walking to class is normally a five-minute walk, but with Andrea it took about 20 minutes because she had to say 'hi' to everyone," Corns said.
"I used to complain then, but now there is nothing I wouldn't give to walk to class with her one more time," she said.
"Andrea was the type of person that always lit up a room," Keith said.
According to information provided by TU, Glenn was attending classes in the fall of 2011 in the school of criminal justice and social sciences program.
Glenn also was a member of TU's track and field team.
"Andrea kept me motivated and positive. She was the glue of the team," Corns said.
