The Tiffin Planning Commission approved Heidelberg University's request for a structure called a "batter's eye" to be built.
The structure is to be 30 by 30 feet, and is to be placed behind the center field fence at Heidelberg's baseball field.
"If you watch the Major League games, they have that black backdrop (and) they don't let fans sit back there," said Matt Palm, baseball coach and Atheletic Director at Heidelberg. "It's partially for safety and partially for aesthetics to help hitters pick up the ball."
