A Bellevue man was arrested Sunday night after he crashed his vehicle on East CR 46, reportedly following a brief pursuit.
Dustin M. Grubb, 28, was charged with fleeing/eluding a police officer, operating a vehicle while intoxicated, driving under suspension, failure to control, speeding and an equipment regulation violation for allegedly failing to stop for a Seneca County deputy and crashing his vehicle into a culvert just before midnight Monday.
Deputy Christopher Potter said he had been traveling westbound on CR 46 when he observed an eastbound vehicle near CR 29 traveling 81 mph in a 55 mph zone.
As Potter turned around his cruiser and activated the emergency lights to stop the vehicle, the driver turned off the vehicle's headlights and continued to travel on CR 46. The vehicle then crashed into a culvert as it attempted to turn into a lane, Potter said.
"When I crested the hill, I saw he was crashed in a ditch," Potter said.
Grubb, who was arrested at gunpoint, had attempted to get into the lane to hide his vehicle behind a barn. He was not injured, Potter said.
According to Tiffin Municipal Court documents, Grubb appeared in court Monday where he pleaded no contest to the charges and was found guilty. He has been sentenced to a total of 190 days.
