I've noticed some changes here in Seneca County.
It's great that Seneca County is building a new youth center. Thanks go to Judge Jay Meyer and his dedicated staff for their hard work obtaining grants for the majority of this project.
Shortly after the 1992 completion of the new jail, prisoners from outside the county were being housed for pay. Thanks go to forward-thinking commissioners who built a jail large enough to rent out space. In fact, it worked so well that in 2003 plans were made for a jail expansion to house even more U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement prisoners, providing greater income for Seneca County.
The county debt has been paid down over the years, just like most homeowners continue to pay their mortgages, thus reducing debt.
The biggest change in Seneca County was in January, with the destruction of the most significant and historic building belonging to the citizens of the county. However, problems with adequate court space still are unsolved.
We have seen many changes. I'd like to see another ... the election of Fred Zoeller as commissioner.
