Dragons gain a road sweep against Ursuline

PEPPER PIKE - Tiffany Buchinger and Danielle McQuade each turned in double-doubles Tuesday as Tiffin beat Ursuline, 29-28, 25-15, 25-20.

Buchinger tossed up 43 assists and came up with 11 digs for the Dragons (7-12) while McQuade doubled up with 14 kills and 14 digs.

Mohawk graduate Maureen Kurtz hammered 10 kills and Sabine Stadler lined nine.

Jordan Jenkins chipped in a match-high 24 digs and Molly Warren registered nine.

TU loses grip on golf crown

ELYRIA - Tiffin led after the first two rounds and halfway through the third, but just couldn't hold on.

Grand Valley State and Ferris State's golf teams charged past the Dragons Tuesday to go 1-2 at the Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic League Championships at Elyria Country Club.

Grand Valley State trimmed 13 strokes off its second-day score and 33 of the opening round tally on the final day, using a 278 to finish with an 880.

The runner-up Bulldogs clipped TU, 889-891, using a 295-300 advantage on the last day to drop the Dragons to third.

Just 10 strokes separated TU's golfers.

Andrew Bolinger's 223 (74-80-69) led the Dragons, with Tyler Maranville (77-72-75) carding a 224.

Luke Schlicher (81-68-77) had a 226, Jon Klein (74-72-83) turned in a 229 and John Tidenburg (78-76-79) added a 233.

HU rally falls short

ADA - Heidelberg rallied from two games down to draw even in its Ohio Athletic Conference match against Ohio Northern. However, the Polar Bears took the decisive fifth game for a 25-14, 28-26, 21-25, 20-25, 15-11 victory.

Heidelberg (16-8, 4-3 OAC) had four players hit double figures in kills led by Marian Bevington who slammed 18. Amber Welfle had 16, Jacki Street 13 and Jamie Kluding 10. Rachel Ferguson dished out 37 assists while Calvert graduate Alexa Frank added 23. Defensively, Tessa Benanzer had 28 digs. Kluding chipped in 13.

ONU's Bascom helps beat 'Berg

Nate Bascom found the back of the net twice and assisted on a third Ohio Northern goal as the Polar Bears came into Mayer Field, and left with a 5-0 victory. Keegan Ross, Jeremy Barnes and Stephen Perkins also added goals. Ross, Barnes and Cameron Johnson tallied assists as Ohio Northern (15-2, 6-0) remained unbeaten in Ohio Athletic Conference play.

Heidelberg (8-6-1, 3-2-1 OAC) managed just one shot against Ohio Northern. Matthew Stevens made three saves in goal.
