If it's one thing we learned from the courthouse saga, it was the vital importance of maintaining our public properties. It's a simple fact that through wear and tear and over time, gym floors need resurfacing, school walls need painted, cracks repaired, sidewalks fixed,windows replaced, technology equipment updated and on and on. Funds must be maintained at all times to fund an ongoing comprehensive maintenance program and guarantee that if a major malfunction takes out a heating system or foundation problem or any other cataclysmic event (outside of our insurance coverage), the item can be replaced quickly because the dollars were already allocated.
The Tiffin City Schools 1-mill permanent improvement levy is just that. It is a renewal of a levy that started in 1977 and has been renewed six times since. The $1.19/month for an average home in Tiffin seems a modest amount to pay for assurance that our children will be safe, comfortable and learning on technology that will prepare them for the future.
Please vote yes on the renewal of Tiffin City Schools' permanent improvement levy Nov. 6.
