Board mulls over schools chief

October 12, 2012
By Dan McElhatten - Correspondent , The Advertiser-Tribune

FOSTORIA - Fostoria Board of Education met Monday night to consider a future course for the school superintendent position. Superintendent Steven J. Pritts previously announced he would retire effective Aug. 1, 2013, but in September said he plans to retire at the end of the year.

Pritts' original contract required he relocate to the Fostoria school district, but he failed to do so. In January, the board of education relented and approved to waive the requirement. Pritts came to Fostoria from the Elmwood school district, and has been there since June 2010. At Elmwood, he was in his second year of a five-year contract when he announced the move. He was hired by inking a three-year contract with Fostoria at a salary of $110,000 annually.

The board is to meet early next week to consider hiring interim superintendent and begining a search process or hiring a superintendent to assume the duties for the first of the year.
