Petition bad for Bettsville

October 10, 2012
The Advertiser-Tribune

Pat Sherger and Cliff Hartline would like the residents of Bettsville to believe the Wolf Creek petition is good for them, when it is actually just good for Sherger and Hartline and a few others. The Seneca County engineer has not addressed the question of what will happen to the faster-flowing water from Alvada to the Seneca-Sandusky line if Sandusky does not clean its portion of the creek.

Once the faster-flowing water hits the county line, it will slow down and back up into Bettsville, flooding the area. The county engineer cannot predict this will not happen. The county engineer has given an estimate of $225,000 for this project, without any on-site survey. How can this be accurate? He stated the cost may rise once surveying is done. How much higher? What will be the cost in taxpayers money? We need to remember there are 3,153 residents affected by this, not just 12. Who will benefit more?

Bettsville residents need to remember that (stuff) runs downhill, and they are at the bottom of the hill, not Pat Sherger and Cliff Hartline. I'm all for a clean Wolf Creek, but everyone needs to know that this is about one person trying to get his way before a change in commissioners takes place, not the good of the community. Remember who is at the bottom of the hill.

Chris Allison,

Alvada
