Tiffin-Seneca United Way is hosting its 11th annual Day of Caring Oct. 20 at the Seneca County Opportunity Center. Registration begins at 8:15 a.m. with a continental breakfast at 9 a.m.
Volunteers are to be released to assist with various projects in the Tiffin area. This year's projects include the "Harvest for Hunger" food drive pick-up, painting, cleaning, planting and mulching, leaf raking and more, weather permitting.
At noon, volunteers are invited back to the Opportunity Center for lunch.
Volunteers who register are to receive a Super Hero T-shirt, while others may receive one on a first-come basis with limited sizes.
To register, call (419) 448-0355, stop by the United Way office at 201 S. Washington St., Tiffin, or email name, address, phone number and
shirt size to officemanager@tsunited
way.org.
Community members are being asked to donate non-perishable food and personal items for the "Harvest for Hunger" project to benefit FISH and The Salvation Army food pantries, as well as items to be sent to the local military personnel for the "Support Our Troops" project.
City residents should place items on the front porch by 9 a.m. Oct. 20. Day of Caring volunteers are to pick up the donated items. Flyers from the newspaper (or a simple note) may be attached to the grocery bags to identify whether they prefer donated items go to the food drive or for the Support Our Troops project.
United Way also is accepting names of local active duty military persons serving overseas. To have a holiday package sent to them, call the United Way office.
