The Seneca County Board of Elections voted unanimously to make no comment to Ohio Secretary of State Jon Husted's request for a bipartisan recommendation in regards to establishing uniform days and hours for in-person absentee voting for all voters during the three days before the election.

Husted said, in a letter to all county boards of elections in Ohio, "allowing non-UOCAVA in-person absentee voting over this three-day period is inconsistent with Ohio legislature's judgment that those days are needed to prepare for Election Day and is inconsistent with the boards of elections' experience in previous elections."

Mary Puffenberger, chairwoman of the Seneca County Board, said the board was unable to reach an agreement on the hours and days the office should be open for early voting.

"They're going to tell us what to do, and we're going to do it," she said.
