Velma K. (Potts) Scherley, 83, of Bellevue, passed away Monday, Oct. 8, 2012, at The Bellevue Care Center.
She was born Dec. 29, 1928, in Fostoria, daughter of the late Earl and Evelyn (Rohm) Potts. Velma was a homemaker. She married Urban Scherley Sr. April 24, 1948, in Bellevue, and he survives in Bellevue.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two sons, Urban (Pat) Scherley Jr. and Donald (Sue) Scherley, both of Bellevue; two daughters, Barb Miller of Bellevue and Geraldine (Louis) Niedermier of New Washington; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three brothers, Dean Potts of Flat Rock and Robert Potts and Charles (Marie) Potts, both of Bellevue; and six sisters, Dorothy Sweat of Charleston, S.C., Evelyn (James) Andrews of Bellevue, Shirley Mowery of Florida and Sue Graffice, Ruth (Ted) Warner and Janice Parks, all of Bellevue.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by six siblings, Jeannette Stout, Mildred Niver, Emory Potts, Ione Tidd, Eleanor Auble and Marian M. Scherley; and an infant grandson.
Mrs. Scherley was a member of St. Gaspar del Bufalo Church, the Altar Society, former member of Reed Assumption Church and enjoyed working word puzzles.
Friends will be received 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 10, 2012, at Foos and Foos Funeral Service, 151 Yorkshire Place, Bellevue.
Her funeral will be 11 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 11, at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Reed Assumption Cemetery.
