A man who was involved in a motorcycle accident in Pleasant Township last month died from his injuries last week.

Richard W. Froehlich, 63, of Luckey, first was taken to Mercy Tiffin Hospital by Tiffin Fire Rescue Division and then was taken by Life Flight to Summa Akron City Hospital following the accident

on CR 33 Sept. 22.

Sgt. Darryl Edge of State Highway Patrol said he died from his injuries about 9:10 p.m. Wednesday at Akron City Hospital.

Tiffin resident Dawn Frisch had been a member of the same motorcycle club as Froehlich. He was on a Sandusky Valley Riders poker run the day of the accident, and it is a sad loss, she said.

"He was awesome, very kind, generous," she said.

Frisch said Froehlich loved curves, hills and being on a motorcycle. He always was happy, she said.

"He got along with everybody," she said.

Trooper Justin Powell of State Highway Patrol had said Froehlich had been driving a 1984 BMW R100RT motorcycle northbound on CR 33. A 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee driven by Kristopher A. Collins, 28, of Fremont, was southbound on CR 33, started to turn left into a private drive and turned in front of the motorcycle, he said.

The motorcycle struck the SUV in the side, and Froehlich was thrown from it, according to a State Highway Patrol release.

Powell said Froehlich was wearing a helmet. Collins was wearing a seatbelt and was not injured, he said.

Alcohol was not believed to be a factor in the crash, according to the release.

The crash remained under investigation Monday afternoon, Edge said.
