Philip L. Grubb

Philip L. Grubb, age 76, of 2675 County Highway 9, Sycamore, died at 10:10 a.m., Saturday, Oct. 6, 2012, at home.

He was born June 29,1936, in Seneca County, to Lewis Ash and Irene (Ingman) Grubb. He married Shirley A. (Zeigler) Grubb on Sept. 14, 1957, and she died Feb. 7, 1979.

Also surviving are two sons; Jerry P. Grubb and fiance Tracey Brown, and James D. Grubb, both of rural Sycamore. He also has one brother, Donald C. (Dorothy) Grubb; and a sister Carol Ann Von Blon, both of Sycamore; and a half sister Roxanne Ames, Delaware.

He was preceded in death by a step-brother, Gene Von Blon and a half-sister, Margaret Jean Loose.

Philip was a retired auto mechanic/construction worker for many years. He was a social member of Sycamore American Legion Post No. 250. He also was a former member of the Sycamore Volunteer Fire Department and a charter member of the Sycamore EMS. He loved his antique tractors and all kinds of old small engines and loved to go to antique shows all over the area. In his earlier years he raced go-carts, loved boating, fishing and watching NASCAR.

At Philip's request he wished to be cremated and have no funeral services. Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, was entrusted with his funeral arrangements.
