A Fostoria business owner pleaded guilty to numerous theft, drug and tax-related charges last week in Seneca County Common Pleas Court.
Steven R. Yonts, 47, owner of Northern Roofers, pleaded guilty to five counts of grand theft, three counts of theft, three counts of deception to obtain a dangerous drug, four counts of theft from an elderly person and five counts of collecting and failing to remit sales tax in Judge Steve Shuff's courtroom, according to court documents.
He had been indicted on the charges in two separate cases in December and February for stealing thousands of dollars from several people in 2010 and 2011 and also failing to file tax returns for four months. Yonts also procured by deception the administration of or a prescription for oxycodone, hydrocodone and methadone, according to his indictment.
Yonts' bond was continued by Shuff last week and a pre-sentence investigation was ordered. He also was to be interviewed at the Seneca County jail by Oriana House, a community-based correction center.
