Fourth-grade students from area schools have painted pumpkins for the annual pumpkin painting contest at Riehm Farm Market and Barnyard Fun during the month of October.
For 25 cents per vote, area residents can to vote for their favorite pumpkin at Riehm Farm Market and Barnyard Fun until Oct. 17.
The winning artist is to receive a trophy and the student's fourth-grade class is to earn possession of a traveling trophy donated by St. Vincent and University Medical Center Life Flight. Individual trophies, donated by Bair Brothers Sporting Goods and Awards, will be awarded to the first-, second- and third-place winners. The fourth grade that collects the highest percentage of votes will be rewarded with a pizza party donated by A.J.'s Heavenly Pizza in Tiffin.
Pumpkins will be auctioned at 3 p.m. Oct. 20 at Riehm Farm. Riehm Farm is seeking sponsors and base bidders for auction day. Participating schools include Bettsville, Calvert Catholic Schools, Hopewell-Loudon, Mohawk, New Riegel, Seneca East and Tiffin City Schools.
Last year's auction raised more than $1,000 dollars from voting and auction of the pumpkins. All proceeds benefit pediatric patients at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
