A Tiffin man is awaiting sentencing after he pleaded guilty Monday to charges of rape and abduction for raping a 13-year-old relative earlier this year.
Thomas T. Russell Jr., 48, who was arrested in January and later indicted on charges of first-degree felony rape and third-degree felony abduction, had appeared in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom Monday for the beginning of a court trial. Instead, he withdrew his plea of not guilty and entered a guilty plea to the charges.
Russell was arrested after it was reported he raped a 13-year-old girl at her grandfather's residence in Tiffin. Russell also had been staying at the same residence.
