BETTSVILLE?- Two citizens, Pat Scherger and Cliff Hartline, spoke to Bettsville council Tuesday night about the importance of the clean-up of Wolf Creek. They asked residents to write letters of support to Seneca County commissioners prior to a ditch hearing Dec. 3 at the Seneca County fairgrounds.
October 16 is the day Seneca County commissioners open bids for the street paving project in Bettsville with funds being provided by a $47,200 Community Development Block Grant.
A change in venue for voting in this election moves the polling site from the fire station to the American Legion Hall.
Hydrant flushing begins Oct. 15 and will last a couple weeks, Village Administrator Jon Dabrunz said. He said a new sewer pump for a lift station had to be purchased using special assessment funds.
Fire Chief Jim Maglosky's report thanked Crosswaeh individuals for helping paint the fire station and the Firefighters' Association for sharing the costs of new gear lockers. He stated that new turnout gear arrives next week provided by a State Fire Marshall's Grant.

Resident Don Gamertsfelder asked about a tree needing cut near his property for safety reasons.
Mayor Gary Harrison said policies need to be updated on credit card use, vehicles and equipment and travel expenses as proposed by state auditors.
Council set 5:30-7 p.m. Oct. 28 for Halloween trick or treat.
Council is to meet at 6:30 p.m. Nov. 6.
