Tiffin City Schools officials continue to seek a tenant for Lincoln Elementary School, 124 Ohio Ave., and are looking ahead to an auction of Clinton Elementary School, 2036 E. TR 122.
The district has reconfigured its buildings. The buildings in use are Columbian High School, Tiffin Middle School, Noble 4-5, Krout 2-3 and Washington K-1, according to its website.
Superintendent Donald Coletta said because of the reconfiguration, officials have delayed putting the Clinton building up for public auction.
He said it is important the building continue to be used in a positive manner for people in the township. It has historical value and has been well-maintained, he said.
Coletta said it is the intent of the district to sell the building, but officials have not moved forward to ask the board of education for approval to auction it. By law, it has to go through a public auction, he said.
Officials have not set a date for an auction. If things go as planned, they would hope to have one later in the fall, Coletta said.
The district has had some serious inquiries, and people have toured it, he said.
Coletta said there still are furnishings in the building.
"We have not moved those yet," he said.
Furniture also remains in Lincoln.
"We would like to lease the Lincoln building," Coletta said.
Coletta said officials have had some interest but haven't come to an agreement with anyone. They would be interested in finding someone to lease it as soon as possible, he said.
