Heidelberg books events
Celebrate Oktoberfest with a German dinner, to be served 4:30-7 p.m. Thursday in Hoernemann Refectory at Heidelberg University. The cost of the buffet is $8 for adults and $5 for children 12 and under.
Christian recording artist Andra Moran is to give a free concert at 7 p.m. Friday in Herbster Chapel at Heidelberg. She and her husband are to facilitate a retreat from 9 p.m. to midnight. The concert and retreat are free.
Hog roast, auction Thursday
FOSTORIA - A hog roast and benefit auction for the Greater Fostoria Community Foundation is to take place Thursday in the Roppe Hangar at Fostoria Community Airport.
Doors open at 5:30 p.m. with dinner at 6:30 and a live auction at 7:30. Tickets are $30.

A fall rummage sale is to take place Thursday and Friday at Faith United Methodist Church on North Sandusky Street.

Salvation Army has trio
of fundraisers in the offing
The Salvation Army is to have a car wash 9 a.m.- noon Saturday at its facility at 505 E. Market St., Tiffin.
Tiffin Big Lots is to collect toys and non-perishable food Saturday and Sunday. The items collected are to be donated to the Salvation Army in anticipation of holiday distributions.
The Tiffin City Elementary Schools are collecting new and gently used coats through Oct. 19. Seneca Cleaners will clean the coats for distribution Nov. 2 at the Salvation Army.
Y-Wives looking for vendors
Booths for crafters and vendors are still available for the TiffinY-Wives Holiday Extravaganza Nov. 11 at Tiffin YMCA.

Health info to be offered
St. Francis Home is to host its first Health Information Sharing Stations 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Monday in the multi-purpose room at St. Francis Home, 182 St. Francis Ave., Tiffin.
A variety of information is to be available, including information on seasonal influenza prevention, living wills, advanced directives, professional therapies, support groups, volunteer opportunities and more. Blood pressure and pulse oxygenation saturation screenings are to be performed and a pharmacist is to be on hand to review medications. Attendees are encouraged to bring medications or a list of medications.
This event is free. Box lunches are to be available for $5. Proceeds from the lunches are to be used toward the purchase of creating a person-centered outdoor environment.

Meet and greet local authors
Lisa Swickard is to pay a visit 11:30 a.m. Oct. 10 at Allen Eiry Senior Center, 28 Hopewell Ave.
Swickard is to have a question-and-answer session about her most recent books, "Calamity and Courage: Tiffin's Battle During Ohio's Deadly 1913 Flood" and "Weathering the Extremes."
Listeners are invited to bring any books they may want signed.
Marsha Rump is to be at Phat Cakes 10 a.m.-noon Oct. 13 to sign copies of her children's book, "A Cow Who Wouldn't Moo."
Fall craft sale scheduled
Autumnwood Care Center's fall craft extravaganza is set for 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Oct. 13 at the center, 670 E. SR 18, Tiffin.
Home party plan merchandise, crafts and baked goods are to be for sale. The Autumnwood Auxiliary is to prepare the lunch.
Take a run at Riehm Farm
Riehm Farm is to host the Harvest Corn Maze 5K run/walk at 10 a.m. Oct. 13. Participants are to have a scenic course that includes Tomato Lane, Cow Lane, pasture and corn maze trails.
The entry fee is a can of food or monetary donation for the FISH Food Pantry.
This event is done in coordination with the Tiffin YMCA's Women Achieving Miles.
Participantss also can tour the
barnyard after the race for pig races, veggie launching, animals, hayrides and games.
