Prep Soccer Roundup: Tough start dooms Mohawk against Port Clinton

SYCA MORE - Port Clinton built up a 4-0 first half lead before Mohawk began to battle back. However the Redskins held on for a 5-2 victory.

Port Clinton built their lead on goals by Ashtyn Baney, Abigail Pitts, Miranda Rivera and Shelby Gerwin. Mohawk got on the board in the 38th minute on a unassisted goal by Sarah Runion.

Mohawk tacked on another goal in the second half when Cambria Kohlenberg found the back of the net on an assist by Kim Danner.

Port Clinton though iced the game with a goal in the 67th minute by Breanna Hernandez.

The Redskins outshot Mohawk 12-8. Liz Runion made eight saves in goal for Mohawk.

The Warriors drop to 4-6.

TC knocks back Huron

HURON - Columbian used a pair of goals in an eight-minute span to pull away Saturday in a 3-2 win over Huron.

Sam Danilo put the host Tigers (4-6-3) up 2-1 with a goal in the 69th minute, but Nathaniel Gilmer's penalty kick two minutes later knotted the score and Hunter Stark's corner kick in the 79th minute put TC ahead.

Alec Demith snapped a scoreless tie for the Tornadoes (4-7) in the 23rd minute, and Josh Gibson stopped eight of the 10 shots he faced.

Austin Rathbun's goal tied the game in the 55th minute for the Tigers. Taylor Prosser had five saves against 12 shots.
