A jury has found a Tiffin man guilty of having sexual contact with a minor.
Aaron D. Hoffman, 47, was found guilty Thursday afternoon of sexual battery and unlawful sexual conduct with a minor, both third-degree felonies, after a four-day jury trial concluded in Seneca County Common Pleas Court Judge Michael Kelbley's courtroom.
Hoffman had been indicted on the charges in April, after police learned sexual activity occurred between him and a 15-year-old girl between March 2009 and February 2010.
Lt. Michelle Craig of the Tiffin Police Department, who was the lead investigator of the case, said she was pleased with the outcome of the trial.
"God reveals the dark things, and this definitely came to light. It came to light for the jury and the public to see," Craig said following the announcement of the verdict. "We're glad that this person is out of the public and off the streets."
Heather Jans, Seneca County Assistant Prosecutor, agreed.
"I think the jurors did a really good job. They took into account all the evidence that was in the case and they came to the right conclusion. I'm glad we were able to bring justice for the victim," Jan said.
Hoffman's bond was revoked Thursday and he was taken to the Seneca County Jail, where he will await sentencing. Jans said a pre-sentence investigation has been ordered.
