It appears to me senators and representatives who are elected by us tend to vote along party lines. Considering the fact they are only in their positions because the people vote them in, it seems to me the people should have a say in how they vote on issues.
I would like to see the senators and representatives send out notices to the people explaining what legislation is upcoming and asking whether the voters are for or against it. They then should vote depending on the wishes of the people. If this means they have to vote outside of their party, so be it. I believe the American people deserve the right to make their feelings known and that the people we elect should abide by our wishes. This also includes our state and local governments. It's time the American people had a say in what goes on in this country.
