BLOOMVILLE - The possible rehabilitation work to the village pool turned out to be a major point of discussion at Wednesday evening's village council meeting in Bloomville.
Street Superintendent Rick Dentinger provided council with three estimates, each with different approaches, warranties and costs. Councilwoman Carol Adams said the initial numbers represented "quite a bit of money, and we need to look at attendance trends as part of the decision-making process."
Dentinger also said the two pool motors should be removed and examined, and Adams said if a large amount of money is spent on rehabilitating the pool itself, then other major components also should be addressed. Clerk-treasurer Janis Weasner said they could seek a NatureWorks grant from the state, but the application would be due in February and the money not awarded until June or July.
Dentinger also said the 1991 Chevy 454 salt truck may have transmission issues and stated it may be time to look for another vehicle, such as a 3/4-ton pickup with an eight-foot bed. He recommended not spending more than $5,000 on a vehicle. He asked the council to "look around" for such a vehicle.
Dentinger passed on to the council a quote from a local contractor on providing and installing an emergency generator, saying he was "shell shocked" by the expense, including $8,000 in permits. The desired type of generator could be operated on natural gas or diesel, with an automatic transfer switch. No action was taken.
Solicitor Tim Hoover presented options for the village to dispose of village vehicles and equipment, either through an internet auction site or local sale. Council opted for a local sale and is to vote on a resolution at the next meeting.

A park and pool recap indicated a loss in pool operations of $8,793.84 and $377 for the ballfield.
Trick or treat night is set for 6-7:30 p.m. Oct. 31.
8 The Community Center Board plans to host an all day Election Day meal to include soup, sandwiches and dessert as a fundraiser for building maintenance.
American Legion Auxiliary donated $750 for use at the park.
A skateboard area at park is in bad shape and may have equipment removed.
Mayor Robert George clarified a point from last meeting, saying park swings were broken, but had noot been vandalized. He also reminded the council the new recycling system begins Oct. 1 at the old township garage building, with three containers identical to Clinton Township's arrangement.
Council passed pay ordinance 2012-18 and resolution 2012-7 after a third reading, accepting the amounts and rates regarding levies and certifying the amounts to the county auditor.
The next council meeting is set for 7 p.m. Oct. 3 at village hall.
