Bill A. Pankhurst, 81, of Fostoria, passed away Tuesday, Sept. 18, 2012, at Good Shepherd Home, Fostoria.
He was born Aug. 19, 1931, in Findlay, to the late LaGrange and Clara (Clouser) Pankhurst. He married Joy A. Bartchlett July 11, 1954, at Grace United Church of Christ, Fostoria, and she preceded him in death Dec. 8, 2006.
Surviving are two sons, Jeffrey W. (Andrea) Pankhurst of Ft. Myers Beach, Fla., and Rory J. (Nella J.) Pankhurst of Plain City; a daughter, Penny J. (Rick) Riggs of Fostoria; 11 grandchildren, Joshua, Levi, Isaiah, Danielle, Johnathon, Gabriel, Amber, Ashley, Tristin, Aaron and Kiley; eight great-grandchildren, Conner, Hannah, Eli, Miya, Abigial Emma, Amelia Emilee, Emily and Jacob; and his sister, Ruth Snyder of Tiffin.
Bill attended Jackson Liberty School and later did technical training at Whittenburg. Bill served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War as a paratrooper. He was the general manager of the Fostoria Ex-Cell-O plant. Bill started Pankhurst Fruit Farm. In his leisure time, Bill enjoyed spending time with family, playing cards, bowling, snowmobiling and fishing. Bill was a very proud grandfather and great-grandfather.
Visitation will be 11 a.m.-1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, at Mann-Hare-Hoening Funeral Home, 407 N. Countyline St., Fostoria, with his funeral to follow at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Donald Goodwin presiding. Committal and burial services will take place at the Veteran's Chapel of Fountain Cemetery, Fostoria. The United Veterans of Fostoria will provide military honors.
