Police are looking for a man who broke into a Valleyview Place residence Monday morning and was scared off by a resident.

Tiffin Police Chief Fred Stevens said a woman reported she came home and found a man inside of her first-block Valleyview Place house around 8:40 a.m.

The man, described as a white male wearing a blue zip-up hoodie, a black stocking cap and having a full beard, went out the front door, dropping the items he had taken.

Stevens said a man matching the description was located nearby, but after police drove the woman past him, he was found not to be the suspect.

A canine unit from Hancock County was requested Monday morning, Stevens said. An arrest had not been made as of Monday afternoon.
