Prep Golf Roundup: Jackets bunch up in a runaway

BETTSVILLE - Lance Smith had to feel like the odd man out.

Three of the four players who fired a 39 Thursday at Nature Trails were his New Riegel teammates as the Blue Jackets stormed off to win a quad meet with a 158.

Andrew Hohman, Brady Hall and Korey Williams each carded a 39 and Smith added 41 for New Riegel (13-0).

Old Fort held off Mohawk 172-177 for second, and Bettsville (204) came in fourth.

Adam Alexander of Old Fort (6-7) also shot a 39, J.W. Riedel had a 41 for Mohawk (1-11) and Bettsville (0-12) got a 45 from Ryan Hager.

FOSTORIA - Jarid Gelinas led a trio of Hopewell-Loudon players with sub-40s Thursday in the Chieftains' 156-174 win over St. Wendelin in a triangular at Loudon Meadows. Arcadia (192) came in third.

Gelinas carded a 37 for H-L (9-2) and Bryce Gorrell and Christian Madsen both shot a 38. Aric Creeger backed them with a 43.

Keiran Campbell's 41 topped St. Wendelin (7-5), and Arcadia (4-10) got a 47s from Alan Wiseman, Caleb Boone and Clay Hatfield.

Souffer-led Redmen win

BUCYRUS - Brian Souffer's 38 set the tone Thursday as Bucyrus beat Buckeye Central 165-180 in North Central Conference play at River Oaks.

Preston Ford chipped in a 40 for the victorious Redmen (2-7 NCC).

Adam McGinnis' 40 paced the Bucks (4-5, 3-5 NCC).

Tornadoes get first NOL win

SANDUSKY - Sandusky had the best player, but another Blue Streak was disqualified Thursday as Columbian held on for 179-182 victory at Mills Creek.

Martin Stevenson fired a par 36 medalist round for the Blue Streaks. However, No. 4 player Dalton Schenk was disqualified, so Sandusky had to erase his 43 and use a 52.

That opened the door for the Tornadoes to claim their first Northern Ohio League win and move to 1-6 in the league.

Bryce Creamer's 40 topped TC, T.J. Wickham had a 44, Jack Burkes shot a 45 and Eline Widman turned in a 50.

Tigers get around Raiders

Nate Phillips held off Makayla Dull by two strokes and his Senecas Tigers did the same to her Lakota Raiders in Thursday's 174-176 win at Clinton Heights.

Phillips shot a 2-over 37 for the Tigers (5-4), with Garrett Clark adding a 43.

Dull's 39 for the Raiders (5-6) was backed by Hunter Chalfin's 41.
