UPPER SANDUSKY - With Upper Sandusky and Ontario tied 2-2, the match was decided by the No. 2 doubles match. It went to a tiebreaker in the third set, but the Ram team of Megan Pasco and Nadia English pulled out the win 3-6, 6-2, 7-6 against Kelsey Baker and Alivea Schanee to give Upper Sandusky a 3-2 win.
"I almost cried when Pasco and English recorded their first win as a doubles team," Upper Sandusky coach Angie Miller said. "They've worked so hard since becoming partners, and you could really see the cohesiveness tonight."
The other two Ram wins came in singles action. Kilee Saylor topped Destiny Burdine, 7-5, 6-2 and Jenny Ohler beat Emily Kinny 6-1, 6-4.
Ontario got wins at No. 1 singles from Michelle Fabian over Taylor Clark 6-3, 6-0, and the No. 1 doubles team of Brittany Duffy and Emilee Burson over Logan Pierson and Taylor Dilley, 3-6, 6-2, 7-6.
Calvert tops Bucyrus
Calvert picked up wins in two of the three singles matches, and added a win in No. 2 doubles to post a 3-2 win over Bucyrus.
Samantha Gase scored a 6-0, 6-1 win over Haley Fetters, while Margaret Bowers won her first set against Kaylee Lewis 7-5 before Lewis had to forfeit with an injury.
Calvert's doubles win came from the team of Stasia Huth-Fretz and Anika Maiberger over Laney Mollemkopf and Hannah Hidedrand, 7-6, 3-6, 6-4.
Calvert's Madison Daniel fell at No. 1 singles to Macey Sheerer, 7-5, 6-0. In No. 1 doubles, Calvert's Regina Hoepf and Nicole Fretz lost to Katie Jacobs and Courtney Ruehle 6-4, 6-4.
Dynamite dozen for TC
BELLEVUE - Columbian went on the road to Bellevue and came back with its 12th win of the season after a 5-0 sweep of the Redmen.
The Tornadoes are 12-1 overall and 6-0 in the Northern Ohio League.
Included in the three singles wins for TC was a 6-0, 6-0 blanking of Elidia Veliz from Kelly Bishop. Alex Kramer knocked off Carlee Santoro in the No. 1 singles match 6-4, 6-3 and Sarah Guzowski topped Mandee Darr 6-4, 6-2.
In doubles, Allie Elchert and Audrey Vrancken dropped just a single game beating Bernadette Wolfe and Elaina Eskins 6-0, 6-1. Kelsey Drown and Ashley Niedermier topped Laiken Tester and Dani Dean 6-1, 6-3.
