Second-game rally carries Buckettes

NEW WASHINGTON - On paper, Buckeye Central knocked off Upper Sandusky in three games. But in reality, it was one game that decided the match. Already taking the first game 25-17, Buckeye Central rallied to take game two 27-25. The Buckettes then went on to roll in game three 25-9.

"They had game two, they had us beat and let us come back and that kind of took the wind out of their sails," Buckeye Central coach Bill Bonham said. "It was a very good win for us. Definitely a team effort against a good, young Upper Sandusky team."

The win was highlighted by a milestone for BC's junior setter Kilee Kimmel, who tallied her 1,000th career assist in the contest. She had 17 in the game.

Also for BC (7-2, 4-0 NCC), Sammi Marcum slammed 19 kills to go with 10 digs. Maddie Williams had 10 kills, six digs and three aces. Kendra Schultz had nine kills while Brooke Karl had 13 digs.

Emily Weithman also added 16 assists and six digs.

Calvert dominates St. Peter's

MANSFIELD - Calvert went into Mansfield and rolled through St. Peter's 25-5, 25-7, 25-8.

A balanced attack fueled the Senecas. Haley Felter led with seven kills. Meridith Lucius and Amber Perry added six with Jordan Gase, Kaleigh Hendrix and Ashley Perry each slamming down five. Alanna Widman led the defense with 12 digs to go along with four kills of her won.

"This was a night where 13 girls all got in the rotation and I'm proud of the effort each one have on the floor," Calvert coach Greg Hendrix said. "This was the kind of night where everyone leaves the gym happy, including the coaches when you get that kind of effort for everybody."

Calvert improves to 3-2.

Carey muscles past Mohawks

CAREY - Carey cruised past St. Wendelin in the night's first game. The next two were tighter but with the same result, Carey wins. The Blue Devils posted a 25-15, 25-21, 25-22 win over the Mohawks in Midland Athletic Leagueplay.

Hannah Tong led the Carey attack with 14 kills and five aces. Shelby Seifert added 11 kills, six blocks and five aces. Sydney Wentling set the up, tallying 25 assists, to go along with five blocks.

Taylor Fletcher led the defense with 11 digs; Makenzie Wentling chipped in eight. Logan Johnson also added three aces and nine digs.

Catrina Lang led St. Wendelin with six kills, Colleen Fondessy added five. Allie Rutter had six blocks and three aces.

Carey improves to 4-3, 1-1 MAL.

Seneca East nipped in 3

ATTICA - There were three tight games, but each one went against Seneca East. The Tigers (2-8) fell to Paulding 25-22, 25-23, 25-23.

Kristen Bowerman led Seneca East with 10 kills and three digs. Emily Depinet added six kills and five digs. Sam Miller posted a double-double, dishing out 15 assists to go along with 10 digs. Ashton Daniel chipped in three kills, three aces and 14 digs. Holly Bordner had 15 digs.
