Bill R. Donaldson, 80, of Findlay, died at 3 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at his residence.
He was born May 5, 1932, in Hoytville to Delmar and Adelia (Shafer) Donaldson. He married Rose M. Kessler in 1960 and they divorced. Their son, Jim J. Donaldson, survives in Findlay. He later married Bonnie Damon on March 28, 1974, and she survives. Their sons, David L. Donaldson of Cincinnati and Douglas R. (Jodi) Donaldson of Miami, Fla., survive.
Mr. Donaldson is also survived by two granddaughters, Gianna Cole Donaldson, and Lilianna June Donaldson of Miami, Fla.; and two sisters, Mary Ann Breyman of Findlay and Betty Richer of Wauseon.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Evelyn Gorman; and five brothers, Kenneth, Wilbert, Truman, John and Raymond.
He graduated from McComb High School in 1951. He was a U.S. Army veteran, having served 18 months in Korea 1953-1954. He retired from Findlay Police Department in 1984 after 25 years of service and then worked for several other security companies in Northwest Ohio. He attended Salem Cass United Methodist Church.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Colden-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay.
His funeral service is 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, Findlay, with Pastor Ray Kane officiating. Burial will be in Knollcrest Gardens, east of Findlay, where full military rites will be conducted by Hancock County Veterans Squad.
