Wilbur W. Geary, 87, of E. TR 171, Bloomville, died at 11:14 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 6, 2012, at Wyandot Memorial Hospital, Upper Sandusky.
He was born May 30, 1925, in Seneca County, to Bert and Hazel (Shock) Geary. He married Bernita (Holman) Geary April 5, 1964, and she survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Bruce (Deb) Geary of rural Bloomville, Lee Geary of New Riegel and Don (Lynne) Geary of rural Tiffin; seven grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; two sisters, Dorothy Minter of Dola and Joyce Mullins of rural Bloomville; plus many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two granddaughters plus his parents.
He was a semi-retired farmer, having farmed all of his life. He was a member of St. John's Baseline United Church of Christ, where he formally served as Sunday school superintendent, deacon and elder, and was also on the church consistory. He was a lifetime member of Tiffin Eagles, a member of Seneca County Farm Bureau, and a former member of IOOF Lodge No. 174, Melmore. For hobbies, he loved to bowl, play cards, and in his younger years play slow-pitch softball.
A funeral for Wilbur will be 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2012, at Walton-Moore Funeral Home, Sycamore, with Pastor Robert Haskins and Pastor Kim Bayless officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant View Cemetery, Sycamore.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 10, at the funeral home.
