BETTSVILLE - A better team maybe, but the same result.
Calvert took care of business Thursday night, dispatching Bettsville, 25-8, 25-15, 25-11.
Amber Perry paced Calvert with 11 kills and six blocks. Jordan Gase and Haley Felter both had six kills. Kaleigh Hendrix had 21 assists and seven digs, pushing the Senecas to 2-1 on the year with a 1-0 Midland Athletic League mark.
"This is the best passing team that Bettsville has put on the court in awhile," Calvert coach Greg Hendrix said. "We were able to play a lot of girls tonight and give everyone a chance to see the floor."
Mohawk impressive in MAL opener
SYCAMORE - Mohawk opened the MAL slate with a 25-9, 25-10, 25-13 victory against Carey on Thursday night.
Kasey Adelsperger had 14 kills and two blocks while front row counterpart Sarah Parker had 12 kills, nine digs and three blocks. Ashley Parker doled out 34 assists for the Warriors (4-1, 1-0 MAL). Julie Adelsperger and Aubrie Flood both had five kills. Lynsey Trusty had 16 digs in the victory.
Sydney Wentling's 18 assists paced the Blue Devils (2-2, 0-1) and Hannah Tong belted nine kills.
Shelby Seifert slammed five kills, Logan Johnson came up with five digs, and Makenzie Wentling and Taylor Fletcher both had four digs.
Old Fort cruises past Tigers
OLD FORT - Kristin Bender had 14 kills and two blocks as Old Fort smoked North Baltimore, 25-12, 25-13, 25-11.
Krista Ward dished out 15 assists and eight aces while Sara Bell added another eight assists. Sammy Miller served up 11 aces and had a team-high five digs.
Bucks rattle the Cubs
NEW WASHINGTON Buckeye Central swept Lucas Thursday night. The Bucks defeated the Cubs 25-6, 25-7, 25-21.
Kendra Schultz led with nine kills and three aces. Maddie Williams added seven kills, followed by Sammi Marcum with six. Kilee Kimmel contributed as well with twelve assists, three aces, and five kills towards Buckeye Central's victory.
Blue Jackets thump Raiders
KANSAS - New Riegel overwhelmed Lakota 25-10, 25-10, 25-11 Thursday in the Midland Athletic League opener for both teams.
Cassandra Acree keyed the Blue Jackets (5-0, 1-0 MAL) with 35 assists and seven digs.
Taylor Arbogast hammered 14 kills, Lauren Ladd lined 12 and Morgan Noftz and Alexis Kieffer each smacked three. Kara Scherger chipped in nine digs and eight kills.
Alaina Bickford's nine digs led the Raiders. Katie Park had seven digs and five kills.
Chieftains find a W
BASCOM - Hopewell-Loudon finally broke into the winner's column Thursday, outlasting St. Wendelin 26-24, 26-24 in the first two games before pulling away for a 25-17 victory in the third.
Logan Frank turned in a double-double of 15 kills and 13 digs for the Chieftains (1-5, 1-0 Midland Athletic League), and Courtney Burns had 12 assists, 10 digs, eight kills and five aces.
Racquel Hossler chipped in 18 assists, five aces, five kills and five digs, Shelby Sauber tallied 12 digs and five aces, Kassie Shaver had 10 digs and six kills and Kassie Welly turned in seven digs.
The Mohawks got 10 kills from Catrina Lang and nine kills from Colleen Fondessy.
Adrienne Emerine came up with 15 digs, Becca Starns tallied 22 blocks, Allie Rutter had eight blocks and Georgia Kitchen and Taylor Lucius each registered 10 digs.
