Dana Joe Howard, 63, of Tiffin, passed away at 10:48 a.m. Sept. 4, 2012, at his residence, after a long, 22-year battle with heart disease.
Dana was born May 14, 1949, in Salyersville, Ky., to Virgil and Marie (Sampsell) Howard. He married Elizabeth Lance Dec. 16, 1989, in Tiffin, and she survives.
Other survivors include two daughters, Kendra (Brian) Chandler of Columbus and Natalie (Teddy) Boitnot of Uhrichsville; two sons, Andrew Howard and Jarod Urban, both of Tiffin; seven grandchildren; four brothers, Michael Howard of Chesapeake, Randy Howard of Dallas and Tim Howard and Doug Howard, both of Findlay; and four sisters, Kay Shaw of Carey, Kathy Arnold of The Woodlands, Texas, Judy Liechty of Fayette and Tina Baumlein of
Dana was a retired lieutenant for the Tiffin Police Department. He trained at the FBI Academy in Quantico, Va. After retirement, he became an X-Ray technician at Mercy Tiffin Hospital.
Dana loved OSU football, his three dogs, Tayla, Lilly and Bridget, watching Fox News and ESPN, looking forward to his monthly card game with his friends and traveling with his wife to the ocean.
Dana was a 1967 graduate of Findlay High School and was a U.S. Navy veteran serving during Vietnam.
His memorial service will be 11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 7, 2012, at Engle-Shook Funeral Home and Crematory,135 N. Washington St., Tiffin, OH 44883, (419) 447-1221, with Pastor Alan Baumlein
Visitation will also be Friday, from 10-11 a.m., at the funeral home. There will be no burial at this time. Military rites will be rendered by the United Veterans Council at the funeral home.
