Mohawk’s Daniel, Carey girls tops in N10

MOUNT BLANCHARD - It was a glimpse into the future as the schools that will make up the Northern 10 conference starting in 2014 ran at Riverdale. Mohawk's Julia Daniel crossed the line first in the girls race in 21:17.7, but with four top 10 finishers, Carey took first in the team standings, beating out Bucyrus, 31-48. Wynford (70) took third followed by Mohawk (91).

Sarah Walter was Carey's top finisher coming in third (22:56.3). She was closely followed by Jaclyn Troiano in fifth (23:29.2) and Alivia Stephan in sixth (23:43.2). Amber Spurlock took ninth (24:05.4) and Kristina Nusbaum rounded out the Carey scorers finishing 18th (25:23.9).

Bucyrus turned the tables on Carey taking first in the boys race, 50-60. Colonel Crawford (69), Wynford (85) and Mohawk (98) rounded out the top five. Seneca East took sixth (181) followed by Crestline (204), Buckeye Central (238) and Riverdale (252).

Carey's Brayden Leist took second, finishing in 18:29. Ben Kromer finished fifth in 18:49.7. Michael Patton (19:26.9) and Zach Logsdon (19:30.0) took 13th and 14th, respectively.

Rodgers top finisher for FHS

GENOA - Raven Rodgers ran to a ninth place finish, the top Fostoria performer, at the first Northern Buckeye Conference Jamboree held Tuesday in Genoa.

Rodgers finished in a time of 23:21.47. She was closely followed by teammate Taylor Keeley, who finished 14th in 24:09.88. Also for Fostoria, Adrianna Eufracio finished 31st (25:59.82) and Keeley May was 52nd (30:54.93).

Eastwood took first place powered by a 1-2 finish by Maddie Jackson (21:12.48) and Meagan Kaminski (21:47.19). The Fostoria girls did not have enough runners to field a full team.

On the boys side, Fostoria finished seventh as Elmwood took home the team title.

The top finisher for the Redmen was Salvador Cantero in 12th (19:12.53). C.J. Mathney was 14th (19:15.78). Rowyn Schneider finished 36th (20:59.15).

The boys race was won by Brandon Avers of Otsego in 17:24.58.

Willard goes low to beat TC

Willard had three players break 40, with its fourth scorer carding a 40 in a 152-171 victory over Columbian.

Hunter Wiers and Korey Mahl each shot 37 to lead the Flashes. Matt Cok added a 38.

Columbian was led by Bryce Creamer and Jack Burkes who shot 41s. Clayton Neal added a 44 and T.J. Wickham carded a 45.

Arlington downs Carey

ARLINGTON - Carey got a 43 from Corbin Blair, but it wasn't enough as Arlington downed Carey 160-189.

The Red Devils were paced by Dexter Wilson with a 36. Alex Steiman added a 40, Cody Reddig shot a 41 and Tyler Starr posted a 43.

For Carey, Lincoln Stansberry posted a 45, Russell Phillips carded a 50 and Josh Vantrease shot 51.
