BASCOM - Hopewell-Loudon School invites community members to take a virtual tour of the new school via the district's website, www.hlschool.org. A 360-degree camera provides an inside look at the progress being made throughout the site.
The tap-in to the new sewer line has been completed, and the exterior brickwork is to be completed by the end of September.
At Wednesday's board meeting, Athletic Director Steve Suter announced that Sept. 1, Tiffin Ford-Lincoln, 2020 W. SR 18, Tiffin, is to host a Drive 4UR School from 9 to 3 p.m. The dealership is to donate $20 per test drive up to $6,000. School athletes are to staff a concession stand and the cheerleaders are to conduct a carwash.
Board member Doug Ranker offered a reminder that the Hall of Fame inductions are scheduled for 6:30 p.m. before Friday night's football game.
The elementary PTO is to host a tailgate Friday. Food service is to begin at 4 p.m. with inflatable attractions to start at 5 p.m.
Superintendent Nicole Jiran announced she has established a Twitter page for the district. She invites people to visit the page @hlschools.
The board accepted the resignation of Tom Swanagan as maintenance supervisor effective at the end of the year.
Unpaid volunteers for the elementary classrooms, football assistants and chaperones for the Outdoor School were approved.
Donations to the cross country team from Matt and Anne Arnold and Ron and Michelle Ardner were accepted.
The contract for high school/junior high school principal Bill Dobbins was adjusted to be $87,500 for 2012-2013.
The board took action to:
Participate in the Ohio Schools Council Cooperative Purchasing Program.
Approve substitute teachers and aides as prepared by the NCOESC.
Approve bus routes that had been authorized by the superintendent.
Approve the athletic handbook.
Grant approval of agreement with NCOESC interpreter services.
Approve new and revised school policies after their second reading.
The board is to meet at 6:30 p.m. Sept. 12.
