Laco Wilson

Laco Wilson, 85, of Tiffin, passed away Friday evening, Aug. 17, 2012, at Ruffing Family Care Center in Tiffin.

He was born to Worthy and Macel (Utt) Wilson July 24, 1927, in Copen, W.Va. He married Mary J. Lang Aug. 29, 1953.

Survivors include three sons, Steve (Karen) Wilson and Rick (Amy) Wilson, both of Tiffin, and Ron (Cindy) Wilson of Ellicottville, N.Y.; a sister, Pauline Waldeck of West Virginia; six grandchildren, Luke Wilson, Cassie Booth, Amy Wilson, Nicole Potts, Ben Wilson and Dan Wilson; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Mary, in 2010; and a brother, Don Wilson.

Laco was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church. He graduated from Burnsville High School in West Virginia and was a member of Tiffin Moose Lodge 846. He was a truck driver for Matlack for many years, retiring in 1989, and continued driving a school bus for Tiffin City Schools for 10 years. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, hunting and traveling. He served his country in the U.S. Army from 1945-1948.

His funeral is 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, at Hoffmann-Gottfried-Mack Funeral Home & Crematory, with the Rev. Gary Walters officiating. Burial will follow in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery, where military honors will be conducted by the United Veterans Council.

Friends may visit from 4-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 20, and from 10-11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 21, at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Salvation Army, Boy Scouts of America or Community Hospice Care.
