Lake's Austin Hall assisted on the tying goal and booted in three after that to help turn a close game into a 6-2 season-opening win over Columbian.

Columbian led 2-1 after Mike Brady converted a Christian Kiesel pass in the sixth minute of play and Kiesel added a goal five minutes later off Spencer Pauley's pass.

But Miles Kidd knotted the score at 2 moments later for the Flyers after getting a feed from Hall, and Hall added unassisted goals in the 15th, 20th and 35th minutes to put Lake in control.

Nathan Francis added an unassisted goal in the 37th minute for Lake, which snapped a scoreless tie in the fourth minute on a goal by Hall.

Danny Patel added 11 saves for Lake, which out-shot the Tornadoes 24-13. Josh Gibson stopped 16 shots for TC.

US flies past Clyde

UPPER SANDUSKY - Sarah Rall scored the game's first two goals as Upper Sandusky built a 3-0 halftime lead over Clyde, and went on to post a 5-2 win.

Rall tacked on another goal in the second half to complete the hat trick and also added an assist. Jamie Calvin and Brigitte Snow also scored goals. Mallory Weininger had an assist.

In goal, Keely Stover stopped seven Clyde shots.

Baker's 10th tops locals at OHSAA Pre-Season CC Invite

HEBRON - Zac Baker ran 10th Saturday to lead Lakota to second overall in Open 2 division of the Ohio High School Athletic Association Pre-Season Invitational at National Trail Raceway.

Baker crossed the line in 19:17.29 for the Raiders, who scored 69 points. Riverview won the title with 36 points.

Fostoria finished fourth with 138 points on the strength of Salvador Cantero (18:32.25) and C.J. Matheny (18:54.95) running sixth and seventh.

Luke Baker backed up Zac Baker by taking 15th (19:39.66) for the runner-up Raiders, Isaac Ritter claimed 21st (20:15.58), Tyler Aldrich came in 24th (20:27.53) and Caleb Tolento ended 27th (20:45.07).

Old Fort's boys claimed 11th in the 25-team Section D race by scoring 296 points.

Marcus Myers led the Stockaders by taking 21st (17:49.44) and Brad Bannister clocked in 27th (17:59).

The Old Fort girls ended 12th in their Section D race with 293 points. Jackie Becker finished 20th (21:29.79) and Kayla Garza wound up 29th (21:46.13).

Calvert's Hanna medalist at Lakota Invite

FOSTORIA - Calvert's Jeremy Hanna fired a 77 to take home medalist honors from the Lakota Invitational Friday at Loudon Meadows. Calvert finished seventh as a team.

Also for the Senecas, Johnny Hays shot an 87, Bryan Kennedy and Henry Burns each carded 98s and Matt Huffmon shot 101.
