Tiffinites soon will be able to participate in a Rural King tradition of grabbing a free bag of popcorn and coffee while they shop when the retailer opens its doors at 7 a.m. Monday at 2300 W. SR 18, the former Walmart location.

"It's kind of our big thing," regional manager Ken Noonan said of the giveaways.

A retail outlet offering farm and hunting supplies and apparel, Rural King stores are spreading rapidly in Ohio.

"We are buying out buildings for three other locations in Ohio to open," Noonan said.

Huber Heights, Gallipolis and St. Clairsville are next in line to open this year, making 10 Rural King stores in Ohio for 2012.

"It's the fifth store this year in the state and we are opening up three more in the next two months, making a total of seven in Ohio," Noonan said.

The Tiffin store is No. 56 in seven states, he said.

There will be a total of a 60 employees locally.

"We are looking to hire about four more employees," Noonan said. "We normally hire about 45-60 employees per store."

Headquartered in Mattoon, Ill., the company also operates in Indiana, Illinois, Tennessee, Michigan, Kentucky and Missouri.

Rural King will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily. The Tiffin store will have its official grand opening Aug. 29 through Sept. 1.
