Six area businesses are encouraging people to come out from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday to shop in the event dubbed the first annual Tiffin Shop Hop.

Those who want to partake can pick up a card at the following participating shops: Neumeister's Candy Shop, Threads, Mercy Tiffin Hospital Gift Shop, Maurices, Angie's Boutique or Scrap Happy.

Customers are to try to get a card stamped at each store for a chance to enter into a drawing for the grand prize of $150 in combined store products. The drawing is 11 a.m. Monday at Angie's Boutique, 40 Fair Lane.

"We started talking about it a year ago with Angie's Boutique," Threads owner Kelli Dariano said. "I think the stores appeal to the same customer base."

Threads, Scrap Happy and Neumeister's are located at Wolf Creek Plaza, 2449 W. Market Street and Maurices is at the Tiffin Mall, 870 W. Market St.

"It will be a nice time before the kids go back (to school)," Neumeister's owner Diana Hoover said. "Why not spend four hours and do something fun."

Neumeister's moved to Tiffin last fall.

"We had a nice customer base in Tiffin so we decided to move here," Hoover said. "We are even telling our Upper (Sandusky) customers about it."

Hoover, who has owned the Upper Sandusky store for more than a dozen years, said this is her first time being in this type of event.

"We strongly encourage activities like this when people get together and do collaborative marketing," Seneca Regional Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Services CEO and President John Detwiler said. "It's an opportunity for people to go in and see what they have to offer."

Stores also are offering discounts Saturday.
