Flora Houtz

Flora M. "Teen" Houtz, 91, a resident of Independence House and formerly of Stinchcomb Drive, Fostoria, died Friday evening, Aug. 10, 2012, at Independence House.

She was born March 31, 1921, in Tiffin, to Fredrick and Alice (Simpson) Emanuel. She married Wallace M. Houtz June 3, 1939, in Tiffin, and he died July 26, 1993.

Flora is survived by a son, William (Nancy) Houtz of Risingsun; three daughters, Luella (John) Spangler of Bloomdale, Ruthann Lopez of Smyrna, Tenn., and Carol Lee (Ned) Wollam of Fostoria; two sisters, Lenora Flechtner and Alice Stutzman, of Winchester; eight grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, a brother, Fredrick Emanuel; and a sister, Cora Wagner.

The funeral is 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Harrold-Floriana Funeral Home, with the Rev. Caleb Speicher officiating. Burial will follow at Knollcrest Cemetery in Arcadia.

Visitation is 6-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13, at the funeral home.

Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or a charity of the donor's choice.
