Darl Aichholz

Darl E. Aichholz, 85, of Republic, died Saturday morning, Aug. 11, 2012, at Autumnwood Care Center, Tiffin.

He was born Aug. 29, 1926, in Attica, to Lloyd H. and Myrtle (Williams) Aichholz. He married Wanda M. Swick June 27, 1948, at the Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Attica, and she survives in Republic.

Also surviving are two sons, Dennis (Sandra) Aichholz of Tiffin and Steven (Karen) Aichholz of Republic; four grandchildren, Matthew Aichholz of Sandusky, Kelli (Bill) Jones of Tiffin, Christopher (Jena) Aichholz of Tiffin, and Sara Aichholz of Republic; one great-grandchild, Noah Jones of Tiffin; and a brother, Melvin Aichholz of Attica.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Elsie Brause, and a brother, Claude Aichholz.

Darl was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church in Republic; a member and Pastmaster of Seneca Lodge 790 of Republic; a member of Cornelia Chapter 93 OES of Republic; a member of the Zenobia Shrine; a World War II Navy Veteran; and a member of the Wade Benfer American Legion Post 404 in Republic. He was a Scipio Township Clerk for 32 years, retiring in 1994, and a town councilman for Republic.

Darl owned and operated Swick's Sohio in Republic from 1968 to 1990, and was a former mechanic for Bishop Motors in New Washington. He was an avid hunter and fisherman.

The funeral is 11 a.m., Tuesday, Aug. 14, at the Trinity United Methodist Church in Republic, with the Rev. Gary Hicks and the Rev. Matt Garrabrant officiating. Burial will follow in Block Cemetery, Republic.

Visitation is 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m., Monday, Aug. 13, at the Lindsey-Olds Funeral Home, 3085 S. SR 19, Bloomville. Seneca Lodge 790 will conduct Masonic services at 7:45 p.m. at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity United Methodist Church, Community Hospice Care, Wade Benfer American Legion Post No. 404, or to Seneca Lodge No. 790.
